CAMOUFLAGE PANTS

This pattern can be completed with the following Bernat yarn:


Camouflage - Child's Pants Simple knit camouflage pants-great for that 'cool' kid. Designed from 'Bernat Camouflage'.



Sizes 4 mm (U.S. 6) and 5 mm (U.S. 8) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.
Length of ¾ inch [2 cm] elastic to fit waist measurement. 2 buttons.

Gauge: 18 sts and 24 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] with 5 mm needles in stocking st.

Instructions:

The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).

Right Leg (beg at waist): **With smaller needles cast on 67 (77-87) sts.
1st row: (RS). K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
2nd row: P1. *K1. P1. Rep from * to end of row. Rep these 2 rows (K1. P1) ribbing for 2 ins [5 cm] ending on a 2nd row and inc 1 st at center of last row. 68 (78-88) sts.**

Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st as follows:

K30. Turn. Sl1P. Purl to end of row.
K35. Turn. Sl1P. Purl to end of row.
K40. Turn. Sl1P. Purl to end of row.
K45. Turn. Sl1P. Purl to end of row.
K50. Turn. Sl1P. Purl to end of row.

Note: To avoid a hole when knitting a slipped st, pick up the st below the slipped st and slip it onto left hand needle. Knit this st tog with the slipped st above.

***Cont in stocking st across all sts until work from center front cast on edge measures 9½ (10½-12½) ins [24 (26.5-32) cm] ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off 2 sts beg next 2 rows. 64 (74-84) sts. Dec 1 st at each end of needle on next and every following 6th row to 52 (56-62) sts. Cont even until work from cast off sts measures 10 (13½-16) ins [25.5 (34.5-40.5) cm] ending with RS facing for next row.
Next row: Purl, dec 17 sts evenly across. 35 (39-45) sts. Change to smaller needles and work 1 inch [2.5 cm] in (K1. P1) ribbing as given for waist ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off.***
Left Leg: Work from ** to ** as given for Right Leg.
Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st as follows:

P30. Turn. Sl1K. Purl to end of row. P35. Turn. Sl1K. Purl to end of row. P40. Turn. Sl1K. Purl to end of row. P45. Turn. Sl1K. Purl to end of row. P50. Turn. Sl1K. Purl to end of row.

Note: To avoid a hole when purling a slipped st, pick up the st below the slipped st and slip it onto left hand needle. Purl this st tog with the slipped st above. Work from *** to *** as given for Right Leg.
Finishing:
Pocket
(make 2). With larger needles cast on 20 sts. Work 5½ ins [14 cm] in stocking st. Cast off.
Pocket Flap: With A and larger needles, cast on 5 sts. 1st row: (WS). P3. Knit to end of row.
2nd row: Knit to last 4 sts. Inc 1 st in next st. K3. Rep last 2 rows 7 times more. 13 sts.
Next row: (WS-buttonhole row). P3. K2. yfwd. K2tog. Knit to end of row.
Next row: Knit to last 5 sts. K2tog. K3.
Next row: P3. Knit to end of row. Rep last 2 rows to 5 sts, ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off.

Sew pocket and pocket flap in position at side of knee as illustrated. Sew center front and back seams. Sew leg seams. Fold waistband in half to WS and sew loosely in position leaving an opening to insert elastic. Cut elastic to waist measurement and insert through waistband. Sew ends of elastic tog securely.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
Machine Washing and Drying
1. Machine wash 2 minutes.
2. Spin dry thoroughly.
3. Tumble dry at low heat setting approx. 5 min.
CAUTION:
1. Do not bleach.
2. Do not stretch item or hang to dry.
3. Do not dry in direct sunlight.
4. Professional dry cleaning is recommended as an alternative to automatic laundry.
