LADIES CROPPED SWEATER

This pattern can be completed with the following Bernat yarn:


Illusions - Cropped Sweater Simple cropped sweater thats perfect for those cool evenings. Made from 'Bernat Illusions'. Ranges in size S to L.

Sizes 5½ mm (U.S. 9) and 6½ mm (U.S. 10½) knitting needles or size needed to obtain tension. Size 6½ mm [U.S. 10½] circular needle 24 ins [61 cm] long. Two stitch holders.

GAUGE
12 sts and 17 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] with larger needles in stocking st.

INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).
Back
**With smaller needles, cast on 56 (62-68) sts. Work 1½ ins [4 cm] in garter st (knit every row). Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st until work from beg measures 10½ (11-11) ins [27 (28-28) cm], ending with a purl row.

Shape armholes: Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. 50 (56-62) sts.** Cont even in stocking st until work from beg measures 20½ (21-21) ins [52 (53.5-53.5) cm], ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off 12 (14-16) sts. Slip next 26 (28-30) sts onto a st holder. Rejoin yarn and cast off rem 12 (14-16) sts.

Front
Work from ** to ** as given for Back. Cont even in stocking st until work from beg measures 18½ (19-19) ins [47 (48-48) cm], ending with a purl row.

Neck shaping: Next row: K16 (18-20). Turn. Leave rem sts on stitch holder. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 2 rows, then every alt row to 12 (14-16) sts. Cont even in stocking st until work from beg measures same length as Back. Cast off. With RS of work facing, slip next 18 (20-22) sts onto st holder. Rejoin yarn to rem 16 (18-20) sts and knit to end of row. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 2 rows, then every alt row to 12 (14-16) sts. Cont even in stocking st until work from beg measures same length as Back. Cast off.

Sleeves
With smaller needles cast on 26 sts. Work 1½ ins [4 cm] in garter st. Change to larger needles and work in stocking st, inc 1 st at each end of 5th and every following 4th row to 60 sts. Cont even until work from beg measures 18½ (19-19½) ins [47 (48-49.5) cm]. Place markers at each end of needle. Work 4 more rows in stocking st. Cast off.

Finishing:
Sew shoulder seams.

Collar:
With RS facing and circular needle, K26 (28-30) from Back st holder. Pick up and knit 10 (12-12) sts down Left Front neck edge. K18 (20-22) from Front st holder. Pick up and knit 10 (12-12) sts up Right Front neck edge. 64 (72-76) sts.
1st row: (WS). (P3. Inc 1 st in next st) 15 (17-18) times. P4. 79 (89-94) sts. Cont even in stocking st until Collar measures 8 ins [20.5 cm]. Cast off loosely. Sew in Sleeves placing rows above markers along cast off sts at armholes of Front and Back to form square armholes. Sew side and sleeve seams.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
Machine Washing and Drying

1. Machine wash 2 minutes.
2. Spin dry thoroughly.
3. Tumble dry at low heat settingapprox. 5 min.
CAUTION:
1. Do not bleach.
2. Do not stretch item or hang to dry.
3. Do not dry in direct sunlight.
4. Professional dry cleaning is recommended as an alternative to automatic laundry.
