Small Summer Bag

Measurements:
19cm(7.5") wide x 20.5cm(8") long

Tension: 23 stitches to 10cm(4") over pattern on 3.5mm (#4) needles or any needles that will give that above gauge.

Materials: 2 skeins of ECOKNIT any colour.. 1 pair knitting needles that give required tension. 1 large dome fastener. 1 crochet hook size 3.5mm(#4).

Abbreviations: sl - slip stitch purlwise; psso - pass slipped stitch over next knitted stitch; k2tog - knit 2 stitches together; yo - wrap yarn once around right hand needle to make a stitch; ssk - slip next two stitches one at a time knitwise off left hand needle onto right hand needle. Slip lefthand needle through front of two stitches and knit them together off the right hand needle.

Lower Bag

Cast on 83 stitches. With right side facing, purl. Next row knit.
Row 3: k 1, *k 1, yo, k 18, sl 1-k2tog-psso, k 18, yo. Repeat *. End k 2.
Row 4 and all wrong side rows from 4 to 18 purl.
Row 5: k 1, *k 2, yo, k 17, sl 1-k2tog-psso, k 17, yo k 1. Repeat *. End k 2.
Row 7: k 1, k2tog, *yo k 1, yo k 16, sl 1-k2tog-psso, k 16, yo, k1, yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso. Repeat* to last 3 stitches. End last repeat yo, ssk, k 1; instead of yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso.
Row 9: k 1, *k 4, yo, k 15, sl 1-k2tog-psso, k 15, yo, k 3. Repeat*. End k 2.
Row 11: k 1, *k 1, yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso, yo, k 1, yo, k 14, sl 1-k2tog-psso, k 14, yo, k 1, yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso, yo. Repeat *. End K 2.
Row 13: k 1, *k 6, yo, k 13, sl1-k2tog-psso, k 3, yo, k 5. Repeat *. End k 2.
Row 15: k 1, k2tog, yo, k 1, yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso, yo, k 1, yo, k 12, sl 1-k2tog-psso, k 12, (yo, k 1, yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso) twice. Repeat*. to last 3 stitches. End last repeat: yo, ssk, k 1, instead of yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso.
Row 17: k 1,*k 8, yo, k 11, sl 1-k2tog-psso, k 11, yo, k 7. Repeat *. End k 2.
Row 19: k 2,*(k 1,yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso, yo) 4 times, K 10, sl 1-k2tog-psso, k 10.
Repeat*. End k 2.
Row 20: purl.

Continue in pattern decreasing diamonds of knitted stitches and increasing open work until diamond ends with sl 1-k2tog-psso.

Next row: purl. Work 4 rows garter stitch.
Next row: with right side facing, k 1, yo, *k2tog, yo. Repeat * to last two stitches. End k2tog.
Next row: knit. 83 stitches on needle. Work 2 more rows garter stitch, then cast off.

Purse flap

Cast on 45 stitches. Work rows 1 and 2 as for lower purse.
Row 3: K 2, *k 1, yo, k 8, sl 1-k2tog-psso, k 8, yo. Repeat *. End k 3.
Row 4 and all wrong side rows from 4 to 18, purl.
Row 5: k 2 *K2. yo, k7, sl 1-k2tog-psso, k 7, yo, k1. Repeat *. End K3.
Row 7: K 2, k 2tog, *yo,k 1, yo, k 6, sl 1,-k2tog-psso, k 6, yo, k 1, yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso. Repeat * to last 4 stitches. End last repeat yo, ssk, k 2, instead of yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso.
Row 9: k 2, *k 4, yo, k 5, sl 1-k2tog-psso,k 5, yo, k 3. Repeat *. End k 3.
Row 11: k 2, *k 1, yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso, yo, k 1, yo, k 4, sl 1-k2tog-psso, k4, yo, k 1, yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso, yo,. Repeat*. End K3.

Row 15: k 2, k2tog, *yo, k 1, yo sl 1-k2tog-psso, yo, k 1, yo,k 2, sl 1-k2tog-psso, k 2 (yo, k 1, yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso) twice. Repeat * to last 4 stitches. End last reapeat yo, ssk, k 2, instead of yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso.
Row 17: k 2,*k 8, yo, k 1, sl 1,-k2tog-psso, k 1, yo, k 7. Repeat *. End k 3.
Row 19: k 2, *(k 1, yo, sl 1-k2tog-psso, yo) 5 times. Repaet *. End k 3.
Row 20; knit.
Next row: purl. Work 4 rows garter stitch.
Next row: with right side facing, k 1, yo, *k2tog, yo. Repeat * to last two stitches. End k2tog.
Next row: knit. 45 stitches on needle. Work 2 more rows garter stitch, then cast off.

Sew sides of lower purse together. Sew purse flap to one side of purse at top. Sew dome fastener to centre of flap edge. Match fastener on lower purse. Cut 2 lengths of yarn 1.5 metres (60") in length. Using two lengths of yarn as one. Crochet single chain strap for bag. Cut 14, 7.5cm(3") lengths of yarn. Using 2 lengths as one, knot tassels for corners of bag, bottom of centre diamond and bottom of plap diamonds. Secure strap and tassels to bag.
